Between Light & Shadow
Between Light & Shadow blends new mechanics and the best of familiar systems into a puzzling yet exciting gaming experience. The game creates an entire world on your table as you experience the story with different characters and the world changes based on your decisions. The rules are explained step by step as you play, so you don't have to read any instructions beforehand.
One last step and you are standing on top of the hill. The great plain of Barrenfield spreads out before you and you see all the possibilities it offers in front of you: all the adventures you will have, all the experiences you will have, all that lies ahead of you. You know that if you turned around now, you would see your home village once again. But you don't turn around, you stride down the hill, down into your new life...
In Chapter 1: Dawn, Mara's journey and her fight against the shadow begins. She sets off to explore the world. But something else also begins in this chapter: there are increasing signs that the danger of the Shadow, long thought banished, is threatening the land.
In the first chapter of the campaign, you play out the events that led to the return of the Shadow. You play four different characters and experience their view of the events in different scenarios.
Each scenario not only consists of its own story, with fantastic encounters, tasks and events, but also of different rules and special conditions, so that each one creates a completely different gaming experience. The rules are explained step by step as you play, so you don't have to read any instructions beforehand.
After each scenario, however, consequences happen depending on what you have decided during the game. This is noted on your game sheets so that you have to continue playing with the consequences of your decisions as the campaign progresses.
The game mixes the best of roll & write mechanics with dice placement and introduces some completely new mechanics. Combined, the result is a unique blend of adventure gameplay, in which you experience a story and brainburning game mechanics.

On two pages you will find a short introductory adventure that will allow you to immerse yourself in the world of Between Light & Shadow.
